Just in time (well, posted a little late) for Valentine's Day, it's the Love in the 70's Show! If you weren't in love in the seventies you missed these favorites painting a soundtrack of romance and togetherness.

That, and Dr. Pepper lip gloss.

Selections from The Starland Vocal Band, Hamilton, Joe, Frank & Reynolds, Todd Rundgren, Sweet, Lobo, 10cc, Joni Mitchell and many others.

Cheesecake cover aside, Cooks Tour of High Fidelity is a very strange take on sound effects records. Billed as a "handy do-it-yourself kit of horrendous soap opera sound effects" Cook's Tour encourages you to listen and imagine countless scenarios.

We couldn't come up with a stories that utilized both "Cat and Dog Fight" and "Jungle Birds."

Nothing initiated a skirt tug in the grocery store like a new offering from your favorite Saturday morning cartoon. Yep, the gang from Riverdale had cut another toe tapper and slapped it on the back of a box of Super Sugar Crisp. Sugar Bear was cool, but he just got alot cooler by hosting Archie and the gang's latest joint on his box.

My favorite part of most Saturday morning "group" cartoons (Archies, Jackson 5, Banana Splits, Bugaloos, etc) was the musical interlude. When you hear these again as an adult it's such a great feeling of rediscovery. Bang-Shang-A-Lang was one of those.

A really good band with all the makings of a supergroup: Archie - The leader trying to hold it all together. Reggie - Cocky, but a strong player. Big Hendrix fan and was a lefty. Betty - A better vocalist than instrumentalist. Veronica - A pain in the rear, but Archie realized the importance of a keyboard voice and eye candy in an up and coming Bubblegum combo. Jughead - Bonham reincarnated. Late to practice and binging on hamburgers and soda at Pop's Malt Shop.
